![]() Its game streaming tech works really well, but Stadia got off to a somewhat rocky launch, which might have soured some folks on the platform. Cloud gaming has a bright future and Google clearly has the infrastructure to build a successful consumer business out of it. I don’t think Google will kill it outright (people have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on the platform) but it would be a real shame to see Stadia put on life support. ![]() ![]() Just last month, Microsoft announced a much bigger deal for Activision Blizzard.Īdd the Bungie buyout to the mix and suggestions from Microsoft, Sony and EA that they're looking at other potential acquisitions, and it's not hard to imagine why Google might be concerned about being able to attract attention-grabbing games to Stadia. Microsoft's acquisition of Bethesda last year seemingly had Google shook. ![]() The report also pointed to increased consolidation in the gaming industry, which could make it harder for Google to bring games to Stadia. ![]()
